Service Dog Application

Our goal is to provide the life-changing benefit of companion service dog to any veteran or first responder who needs one. The first step in our process is to complete the application.

Puppy Raiser Application

You can open a world of pawsabilities for a veteran by raising a puppy destined to be a service dog. If you love dogs and are looking for a way to give back in a meaningful, high-impact way, taking part in the SD Service Dogs foster program may be the perfect opportunity for you to provide love and a nurturing environment for a veteran’s future service dog.

Retirement Home Application

Once retired, our service dogs need a loving home to enjoy retirement. Additional information about retirement home requirements. Click below to apply.

“As an animal lover, and a supporter of veterans, I felt compelled to work with South Dakota Service Dogs as a puppy raiser. I am grateful to have the chance to make a difference in the life of a veteran. People often ask me if I am sad when the dogs we train and care for leave us to go to their veteran’s home, and the answer is no, not at all. I understand that these dogs have a higher purpose, and I am happy to do everything I can to support that.”
